Transcription of Probate Record for Gershom Bartlett of Norwich

Jake Fletcher

I came across a fascinating and well put together article by Hans Dupold of the Bolton, Connecticut Historical Society. My ancestor Gershom Bartlett was a gravestone carver with a unique style that have enamored colonial historians for 30 years. As the author points out, Gershom Bartlett was only one part of a larger and very dynamic artisan community in Bolton. He also includes the Bolton Vital Records which record Gershom’s siblings births and the birth of his children. Gershom settled in Vermont and I have a copy of his probate record. I am wondering how the record will reflect the life he had and provide any major life/genealogical clues.
